고용 관련 문서 : 고용 관련 문서는 본인이 현재 직장에 고용되어 있다는 사실을 증명하는 문서를 의미합니다. REAL ID 신청 시 거주 증명을 위한 서류로 사용할 수 있으며, 아래와 같은 문서가 해당됩니다. 제출하는 문서는 가급적 최근 3개월~1년 이내 발급된 것을 준비하는 것이 좋습니다.
급여 명세서 (Pay Stub), 고용 확인서 (Employment Verification Letter), 근로 계약서 (Employment Contract), W-2 양식 (W-2 Form, IRS 발급 세금 서류), 1099 양식 (프리랜서/계약직 근로자용, 1099-NEC 또는 1099-MISC), 사업자 등록 서류 (LLC, S or C-Corp, etc. 관련 서류) *이 외에도 특정 주(州) DMV에서 인정하는 문서가 다를 수 있으므로, 거주하는 주의 DMV 웹사이트를 확인하는 것이 좋습니다
세금 신고서 (1040 form : 개인세금보고신고서 혹은 사업자 등록 서류 (LLC, S or C-Corp, etc. 관련 서류)
신앙 기반(Faith-based) 단체에서 발행한 문서(단체의 이름과 주소 포함)
임대 또는 리스 계약서 (소유주/임대인 및 세입자/거주자의 서명 포함)
학교 문서 (공립 또는 사립 초등학교, 중·고등학교, 대학교에서 발행, 신청자의 출생일 포함)
외국 학교 문서의 경우, 학교의 봉인이 필요하며 문서 발급 당시 신청자의 사진이 포함되어야 함.
미국 우편 서비스(USPS)에서 발행한 주소 변경 확인서
재산세 청구서 또는 명세서
주택 소유권 증서 또는 부동산 소유권 문서

신청자의 이름이 거주 증명 문서에 포함되지 않은 경우:
출생 증명서, 혼인 증명서 또는 동거인 등록 증명서를 제출하여 거주 문서에 기재된 사람과의 관계를 증명해야 합니다.
거주 문서에 기재된 이름이 신청자의 이름과 다른 경우:
혼인, 이혼 또는 법원의 개명 명령 등 이름 변경을 증명하는 추가 서류를 제출해야 합니다.
18세 미만의 미성년자
부모님의 거주 증명 문서를 사용할 경우 : 출생 증명서 등 부모와의 관계를 증명하는 문서를 제출해야 합니다.

Amid increasing scrutiny around identity verification across the United States, the Real ID Act has come into renewed focus for both citizens and immigrants. Beginning May 7, 2025, the federal Real ID policy will be fully enforced, marking a significant shift in how identification is issued and used—particularly for domestic air travel and access to federal facilities.
In this article, we explain what a Real ID is, why it's important, and how to prepare for the upcoming deadline.
What Is a Real ID?
The Real ID is a federal identity standard established under the Real ID Act of 2005, enacted by Congress in the wake of the 9/11 attacks to enhance national security and reduce identity fraud.
A Real ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card looks similar to a regular state-issued license but must meet enhanced federal requirements:
Proof of lawful status: U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and others with lawful presence must prove their status.
Security features: Real IDs include upgraded anti-fraud and authentication measures.
Federal compliance: Although issued by individual states, Real ID documents must meet federal standards.
How to identify a Real ID: These IDs feature a star symbol in the upper-right corner, confirming that the ID complies with Real ID requirements.
Why Is a Real ID Required?
As of May 7, 2025, you will need a Real ID-compliant form of identification to:
Board domestic flights within the U.S.
Access federal buildings, military bases, and certain government facilities
If you do not have a Real ID, you’ll need to carry an alternative federally recognized document, such as:
U.S. passport or passport card
Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)

How to Get a Real ID
To apply for a Real ID, visit your state DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) and provide the following documents:

Certified U.S. birth certificate (must be issued by a state or local vital records office; abbreviated or abstract forms are not accepted)

Special Notes
If your name differs from what appears on your residency documents (due to marriage, divorce, legal name change), you must provide legal documents showing the name change.
For minors under 18:
If using a parent’s residency documents, you must also provide proof of relationship, such as a birth certificate or legal guardianship form.
